These islands are only accessible by boat or plane, and offer visitors a chance to \u201cgo back in time\u201d as they explore, snorkel, hike, kayak, or even scuba dive this uncharted and untouched territory. This park is easily accessed and enjoyed during a day trip departing from Ventura Harbor.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-7df652a2 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"7df652a2\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-6f9cdcd3\" data-id=\"6f9cdcd3\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d80215c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2d80215c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Justin and I both grew up in California, and yet neither of us had visited the Channel Islands, so we made plans to visit with the kids during our <\/span>Thanksgiving Break road trip<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> down the California coast in 2020.\u00a0 After leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/gagnonsgone.com\/destination\/2-days-in-santa-barbara-in-the-rv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santa Barbara<\/a>, where we stayed at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/?page_id=601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>El Capitan State Beach Campground<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we drove 45 minutes to Ventura, where we met up with my parents, who drove up from Southern California to meet us for our day trip to the Channel Islands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-779642d2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"779642d2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From Ventura Harbor, we departed for Anacapa Island, and loved the 1.5 hour ferry trip over to the island. The ride was incredibly eventful, as we spotted a whale and an amazingly large pod of dolphins. In this pod, where were literally HUNDREDS of dolphins, including a dolphin \u201cnursery\u201d with several babies. It was spectacular! We had never seen so many dolphins at one time!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2c6c92b4 and then completed the 1.5 mile hike to Inspiration Point, which took us around the perimeter of the island. The views all around, including the view to the three islets of Anacapa, were lions, an exciting view to send us on our way home.
